On Monday, India records 26,291 new covid-19 cases, the highest single-day spike in 85 days. It has taken the country’s total caseload to 1,13,85,339. The death cases rose by 118 as per the data of the Health Ministry. It is the second day that possesses the highest covid-19 cases. The total cases rose to 1,13,85,339 in which there are 2,19,262 active cases, 1,58,725 deaths, and 1,10,07,352 recoveries.

Yesterday (Sunday), India had reported 24,882 cases, 140 fatalities, and on Friday, there were 22,885 new corona positive cases and 117 fatalities. A covid-19 outbreak occurs in few states, including Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Karnataka. In the fresh wave of Coronavirus, Maharashtra has the highest rise of covid-19 cases, and it has been reporting a single-day spike of 16,620 new covid-19 cases on Sunday.

To break the chain of Coronavirus transmission, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government may declare a lockdown in Mumbai and some other parts of the state from tomorrow. The government has already announced a lockdown in various districts of the state.

The health ministry said, due to comorbidities, more than 70% of the deaths occurred. They have continuously reconciled the figures with the Indian Council of Medical Research, the ministry stated on its website while including state-wise distribution of figures for further verification and reconciliation.
