Tips to manage stress of working from home during COVID-19
• Take Breaks from Watching the News
If we want to stay updated with the current scenario, we have to get information via news channels or other medium of news, but there must a point of saturation. I watch news daily for hours as I am also a news junkie. However, this is not the healthiest choice at all.
The stories shown on Facebook tell completely different situations, many of them are proven to be unauthentic. These fake news lead to stress and anxiety. Now I have reduced the news timings to some limitations, for few minutes in the morning and in the evenings that’s it.
• Walk for some time
This is an easiest and best option. There are numerous things that we are not allowed to do due to lockdowns in many nations. However, walking on terrace would be great option.
Even if you moving outside to take some fresh air do not forget to maintain six-feet distance from others and use face masks. You can also take your dog along with you.
• House Cleaning
This is also the easiest approach that acts as a stress buster. I find that cleaning is therapeutic to me. It is difficult for me to sit in the zone surrounded by dirty dishes and clothes. This works as a double-edged sword for me. I am cleaning my home and at the same time I am wiping out the stale thoughts from my mind.
I find this best option for me to eliminate the level of stress due to office work.
• Talk to Friends & Family
We all are experiencing that social distancing is not easy at all.
We need to keep in touch with the outside world and this we can do. The social networks help a lot to relax and relieve from stress and anxiety.
Since, we are having 100% work from home, it is not possible to meet our colleagues and friends. However, we can make use of phone calls and video calls to talk to them. We can use many apps like zoom app, with which we can have fun talk with our friends.
• Meditation and Exercise
I personally do not meditate, but my friends and colleagues who do meditation in this scenario say that it is working for them like wonders.
The meditation done along with breathing and exercises of mental-awareness lead the race. It is always advisable to do meditation and exercises with the help of guidance like of YouTube Videos. You can do indoor activities to stay active that can also help you with coping stress.
• Enjoy your Hobby
We do not get the time to do the things that we love to do. In this phase of social distancing, we are having enough time besides work from home, to spend on our hobbies. These could be drawing, writing, painting, listening to music or knitting.
Whatever that makes you happy and makes you enjoy is the answer here.
While working from home can offer an incredible sense of independence and flexibility as well as a no-cost commute, you need to be mindful of pitfalls and secret stressors. By concentrating on what you can do to alleviate the tension, without the additional stress, you can reap the added benefits of a work-from-home situation.
